Latest coreless direct drive provides precision rotational stability

The drive unit, the main component of the turntable, uses technologies developed in the construction of the SL-1200 type turntable and the professional SL-1000R type turntable. Coreless direct drive, same as the SL-1200GR, achieves high rotational accuracy and playback of the recording signal. To avoid uneven rotation, called synchronous torque, a layer of shock-absorbing rubber is applied to the entire back surface of the platter (on which the record is placed). This allows you to optimally control the inertia of the platter. A special material, a mixture of ABS and fiberglass, is attached to the frame of the die-cast aluminum turntable, which forms a two-layer structure. The vibration damper consists of a spring and rubber for optimal vibration damping. As with other Technics products, this unit uses a universal statically balanced S-shaped arm. A precision bearing with the same gimbal and housing as the SL-1200 units provides high sensitivity at the moment of launch. In addition, to further improve reliability, a detachable power cable and gold-plated terminals for audio and line connectors are provided, which reduces sound degradation.

The kit includes an Ortofon 2M RED type MM cartridge. This head enhances the sound quality of vinyl recordings on the SL-1500C.

Auto-lift function for easy record changing

When the end of the record is reached, a special mechanism automatically raises the cartridge head, which protects the record and stylus from wear. The components that perform this function are located at the base of the tonearm, which eliminates their effect on the tonearm itself. The simple, motorless design has no electrical effect, no vibration on the tonearm, and no effect on arm movement. Due to numerous requests from users to equip the turntable with an auto-lift function, a design has been chosen that has the least impact on sound quality. At the same time, the player features the minimum necessary set of playback functions, which ensures simplicity and ease of use.
