Acoustic system Technics SB-G90M2E-K Black
Description
Grand Class speaker system SB-G90M2
Surround-enhanced music playback requires that the sound waves coming from the speakers coincide correctly when they reach the listener, no matter where they are. The concept of a point sound source is one ideal approach to achieve this goal.
Advanced Phase Precision Driver

A coaxial configuration was adapted to use a point-source audio reproduction, then coupled with a specially designed phase-aligning bullet and a free-floating diaphragm to ensure minimal sound reflection.
The SB-G90M2 two-way speaker is specifically designed to reproduce mid and high frequencies for precise sound localization and delivering a free, emotional sound while maintaining the point source and linear phase concept that Technics has relentlessly pursued.
Linear Phase Plug

An ingeniously shaped phase equalizer is located on the front side of the tweeter diaphragm and provides high-resolution sound reproduction and a wide sound stage.
The phase equalizing "bullet" has a modular design and is made of dense brass. This protects it from excessive vibration that can occur due to mid-unit vibration, providing crisp sound with low distortion.
Smooth Flow Diaphragm

When sound waves travel along surfaces, interference is created by uneven surfaces, resulting in reduced frequency response. This primarily has a negative effect on high frequencies with a short wavelength. The mid-range cone circuitry, part of the coaxial driver, has a flat shape with free-floating edges to reduce distortion of the displayed sounds, minimizing possible noise coming from the diaphragm, resulting in excellent frequency response and phase response, as well as wide directivity. This design provides a wide soundstage, with rich mid- and high-frequency ranges.
Stationary Construction
To reproduce music with a high signal-to-noise ratio, sources of unwanted sounds have been completely eliminated. For this purpose, the speaker mounting system used in the SB-G90 has been further optimized through the use of computer analysis, and a new speaker mounting system has been developed to ensure a secure mounting. In addition, the rigidity of the entire cabinet as a whole has been reinforced to take full advantage of the balanced speaker mounting. The strength and shape of each element that makes up the coaxial speaker has been analyzed to minimize vibration and unwanted overtones. In addition, elements appeared inside the case that form a special sound path.
This new and unique design effectively reduces the standing waves that cause resonant peaks.
Balanced Driver Mounting Architecture

Unwanted vibrations transmitted to the baffle are further reduced by refining the air vents using computer simulation techniques, allowing the baffle that holds the woofer to be connected to the bottom panel, increasing structural rigidity. In addition, optimized air vents improve the propagation of sound bouncing off the sides of the speakers for extended response. In addition, the baffle on which the coaxial speaker is mounted is separated from the baffle on which the woofer is mounted to prevent mutual interference. Together they further enhance the transparency and spatial presentation of the sound.
Standing Wave Termination Structure

Resonance caused by standing waves is usually generated inside the speaker by sound of a certain frequency, determined by the size of the cabinet. The most commonly used way to eliminate standing waves is to use sound-absorbing material inside the structure. But since it can absorb sounds in ranges other than those forming standing waves, in some cases this leads to a decrease in the dynamism and plausibility of the sound of music. As a countermeasure, the bottom of the woofer compartment features a sound path design that directs standing waves that cause resonance peaks while using a minimal amount of sound-absorbing material. (Patented) This design allows accurate reproduction of music, the speaker system reproduces a true and natural sound in the mid- and high-frequency ranges.
